Dont Let Books Become a Thing of the Past

Books are a wonderful item that have been a part of historysince the first century. But with technology constantly improving books and thestores that sell them are in danger of becoming a thing of the past.

The internet has become a constant source of improvingtechnology and because of that it seems like everything we do in our dailylives we can now do online. We can pay our pills, read the newspaper, anddownload songs. The use of banks and record stores is quickly becoming a thingof the past. Now while I do enjoy thenew technology I really dont want to see it completely obliterate everythingfrom the past. I am firm believer that the past is what makes us strong in thepresent.

With that being said there is one thing especially that Icant stand the thought of ever completely left behind by technology and thatis books. Books have been around since the first century and while I understandthe appeal of having every book at your fingers with new devices like theAmazon Kindle, reading a actual books evokes feelings that cant ever bereplicated.

For me there is something uniquely special about opening up aactual book and reading the words from paper pages. I still love looking at mybookshelf and see books of all different sizes and colors taking up the space.I love going to Borders and getting lost in there for hours, taking time tolook at every book that catches my eye. To me books represent somethinguniversal because every country has them. But thats not all, books are alsoimmortal, because no matter how many new copies of books are printed or howmany versions are printed the message remains the same, and it is the samemessage that has been passed down anywhere from a hundred years to a thousandyears. Nothing can ever replace that.

Its for that reason that books are so important to me andthe world in general. Its mind blowing, for me, to think that they have been apart of history for as long as they have. Im sure Im not the only one thatfeels this way, that despite technologies wonderful advances there is a pointwhere it can go too far. Even so you might me wondering why Im botheringwriting an article like this while books are still in circulation. Heres why

I recently read a article online saying that both record andbook stores are in danger of becoming a thing of the past. A perfect example isthe large chain Borders, that despite having the appearance of doing good, isapparently broke/going bankrupt. I dont know about but I dont want thepredictions about it being a few more years until these places cant functionanymore. Do you want books to become obsolete or do you want to do your part tomake sure books stay a part of our lifelong history and stores like Bordersstay open?
